Well, well, well. Blowing eggs! Lovely!
I am now in Cumbria getting the last of the work out of the way before having a lovely (cold!) Easter break. We do Pasch Eggs here, just in the north of the county I think! We have made them since we were kids, but so did my parents.
Simplest method is to use the brown onion peeling (that you normally throw away) and boil the eggs with the peelings, then butter the egg shell when hot – it will then be a lovely shiny dark brown mottled egg. Better still use daffodil leaves (often wrappend in a cross shape around the egg) and other flowers to put on the egg, surround this with onion peelings and then wrap each egg in newspaper tied with string (bit like tie-dyed eggs!) , boil until ready, butter to make shine and you have wonderful creations that you can give away or put in a bowl and eat on Sunday! Thanks for reminding me! Ju x

If i had been blindfolded and only hear the sound of you blowing that egg, I would have known exactly what you were doing Steve. Sound of my childhood. When Freddie was small we did it and he sucked not blew and the egg broke and got a mouth full of raw egg….he never wanted to do it again. Shame. They didn’t like finding the biscuits in the flour with their hands tied behind their backs after they had been trying to take bites out of bobbing apples either.
